Introduction

The process of planning and developing a building is structured according to a number of key work stages. In Germany, these are structured according to the HOAI, the Official Scale of Fees for Services by Architects and Engineers; in the UK, the RIBA Plan of Work 2013 structures a project into eight phases.

The book "English for Architects and Civil Engineers" together with this module are also divided into phases in line with the progress of a real construction project – the development of a single-family home on the outskirts of a medium-sized town with 25,000 inhabitants.
